Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Viewports are the sealed optical components used mainly for visual or broad band energy transmission into and out of UHV systems.
They can be used to either view samples or optically sensing samples or process devices within a vacuum system or to couple radiation for sampling, processing or measuring.
Each design of UHV viewport can specified according to:
- high temperature bake ratings
- seal type
- connection fitting specification
- vacuum leak rates
- operating pressure rang
- transmission performance (optical application) and
Some types of coating can be removed by heating the UHV-Viewport to specific temperatures without opening the vacuum chamber.
Viewports use a range of window materials from specialist glass for optical viewing to high-tech materials that are customized for specific applications.
